Vera (Gray) McClain , 73, of Sandusky, went home Oct. 6, 2007. She died at her daughter's home.
She was born July 25, 1934, in Dekalb, Miss. She was a graduate of Hopewells High School. She worked at Sandusky D.C. Filter for almost 20 years. Vera was a member of Porter's Memorial C.M.E. Church. She loved flowers, cooking and going fishing. She also loved making people laugh; she had a line that she would use that would just have you balling and it was "okay" and "did I go there." She loved being with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Earleene (Dwight) Davis Gray of Sandusky; two sons, Annisa Gray Jr. of Sandusky and Kenneth (Chavon) Gray of Freeport, N.Y.; brothers, Willie (Mattie) Clark of Sandusky, James (Heniretta) Clark of Meridian, Miss., and Jimmy (Martha) Peden of Delaware; sister, Mary Ann Mitchell of Hempstead, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; a very special son-in-law, Dwight Davis; and a very special friend, Katie Kehea.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Virgie (Campbell) Peden; father, Joe Moore; brother, Johnny C. Peden; sisters, Annie Mae Lewis and Dorothy Peden; and special friend, Annisa Gray Sr.
Friends may call from 11a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in Porter's Memorial C.M.E. Church. The Rev. Amariah McIntosh will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
