Allen J. Lewis, 63, of Huron, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 10, 2007, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 23, 1943, in Concord, N.C. He was a graduate of Bellevue High School. He retired from Delphi after 39 years, the majority of which were spent as a UAW Committeeman. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 913 and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
Allen is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Campbell), whom he married May 27, 2000; daughter, Beth (Joshua) Bowen of Sandusky; son, Brian A. (Crystal) Lewis of Sandusky; stepdaughter, Gretchen Smelter of New York; stepsons Timothy (Brittany) Smelter of Sandusky and Phillip Smelter of Conneticut; four grandchildren, Brianna, Katy, Emile and Alexander and one grandchild yet to be born; three step grandchildren, Jared, Hannah and Kyle; sister, Becky Miller of Clyde; brother, Bill (Sharon) Lewis of Bellevue; and in-laws, Adeline and Dwain Lewis of Venice, Fla.
His mother, Elgia Elizabeth (Scott) Hummerickhouse and step-father, Bill Hummerickhouse, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where services will be 10 a.m. Saturday.
