Minnie Pearl Jordan, 83, departed this life Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, in the Erie County Care Facility.
She was born April 19, 1924, in Mt. Olive, Miss., to the now-deceased John and Maude Lee (Donald) Johnson. She later moved to Meridian, Miss. She was married to the now-deceased David Jordan Sr., and to this union one child was born. She was employed at the Weidmanns Restaurant in Meridian, Miss., for many years. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, and joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and later the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she was in the choir and served on the Kitchen Committee. When she moved to Sandusky, she joined the Providence Baptist Church.
Minnie is survived by one son, David (Mattie Lois) Jordan of Meridian; two sisters, Louise Pettigrew of Meridian and Mary Amison of Sandusky; one brother, Charlie Johnson of Meridian; three grandchildren, Devondra Jordan, David Jordan, both of Sandusky, and Ricardo McClellan of Meridian; 10 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Joe Chaney of Sandusky; and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Jessie, Bennie, J.M. and L.C.; and sisters, Dorothy and Ilean.
Funeral services will be at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Meridian. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
