Carl A. Thome, 88, of Elyria, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, in his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Avon, Ohio. Mr. Thome retired from Parker Hannifin after 43 years of service, retiring in 1982 as a machine setup man. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn (Brooks); one son, Carl A. (Norma) Thome of Huron; three daughters, Edna M. (Charles) Sipes, Janet L. (Joe Barber) Thome of Davenport, Fla., and Jill A. (Edward) Wozniak of Bay Village; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ambrose of Spencer and Raymond (Ruth) of Avon; and sister, Shirley (Joseph) McCafferty of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Anthony, Joseph, Bernard, Colletta, Clarabelle, Marion and Arlene.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home at Chestnut Ridge Road and Ohio 57, Elyria, where closing prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Agnes Church, 611 Lake Ave., Elyria, where the Rev. Albert A. Krupp will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
