Margaret Marie Hilson, 85, of Norwalk, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 26, 2007, in Norwalk Memorial Home.
She was born June 29, 1922, in Norwalk, Ohio to the now deceased Leslie Q. and Frances A. (Saladin) Homan. She was a lifelong member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Sweater Angels and was a former teacher of the Baracca Philathea Class, and was a volunteer for the LOGOS program. She was a 64-year member of Queen Esther Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star, Norwalk. She was a life member of Ken Bur Bell Post 41 American Legion Auxiliary and a member since 1970 of the Firelands Post 2743 VFW Auxiliary.
She was also a member of the Ohio Geneology Society, Huron County Organ Club, Norwalk Elks Club, and was a former Girl Scout Leader. She was a former secretary for the city of Norwalk Police and Mayor's office from 1966-89 and was the former owner of Margarets Gift Shop from 1954-60. Her favorite activity was spoiling her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) Petrey of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Caroline (Thomas) V. Lynch of Parker, Colo.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters, E. Jane Schaffer of Norwalk and Betty A. and Merle McConkey of Bellevue; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 1984.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk where Eastern Star services will be 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Norwalk.
