Celilia M. (Moretti) DeCaro, 87, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday evening, Sept. 23, 2007, in her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born March 7, 1920, in Wooster, Ohio. She married the now-deceased Alfred J. DeCaro in 1942 and moved to Sandusky. From 1948-72 she and Al lived in Columbus, Ohio, while he was a branch manager for Grill Meats (Chef Pantry). During the war years she had worked at Philco and at Pfanner's Cleaners. She loved going to the nursing home to play bingo with the elderly residents. Every Monday night, she would make a Novenas at the West End of Columbus.
She loved to play pinochle, bunco and attend Bible study with her family and friends.
She had many good friends and family who she dearly loved and spent time with.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, Daughters ofIsabella and the IAB Club Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons, Rudolph A. DeCaro and Charles "Chuck" (Pam) DeCaro, both of Sandusky; Gary (Donna) DeCaro of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; daughters, Dianne (George) Phillips of Greenwood, S.C., Karen (John) Wolfe of Lincoln, Ala., Kathleen DeCaro and Linda "Billie" DeCaro, both of Sandusky, Gina M. Susana of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jodie (Geoff) Palmer of Findlay, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters of Wooster, Ohio; nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Anne Barone, Pauline (Clyde) Cunningham and Helen DeCaro, all of Sandusky; and a brother-in-law, Aldridge (Mary) DeCaro of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Rosina (DeScipio) Moretti; husband, Alfred J. "Al" DeCaro on April 6, 2005; brother, Donald Moretti; sisters, Elsie Costentino, Vilma Marcovechio and Mary Rose; three grandchildren, Stephanie Jones, Andrea and Monica DeCaro.
Visitation was Tuesday in Sts. Peter and Paul Gathering Space, 510 Columbus Ave. Prayers will be 9:30 a.m. today in the Gathering Space followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
The Rev. Marty Nassr willofficiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky.
