Fred B. Brownell, 81, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 18, 2007, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Sandusky, and retired in 1992 from Bay Meats where he had worked for 24 years. Fred enjoyed music and was a singer and song writer. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where he sang in the funeral choir and in the folk group, and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his son, Michael D. (Lynn) Brownell of Oak Harbor; step-grandson, Eric Wahl of Strongsville, Ohio; sisters, Willowdean Judge and Marion Jean Beese, both of Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin F. and Lillian May (Ohlemacher) Brownell; wife, Amaryliss C. (Patsch) Brownell on May 18, 2005; brother, Rolland "Barney" Brownell; three sisters, Muriel Justi, Bettie Mae Likes and Clara Fleming.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be9:30 a.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Christopher Kardzis will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
