Nedra (Howman) Knerr, of the Community at Parkvue in Sandusky and formerly of Rowlett, Texas, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 8, 1914, in West Salem, Ohio, to Lyndon H. and Laura M. (Carmack) Howman. She married Frank A. Knerr in 1937 and lived in Rocky River until 1950, moving to Dallas and then to Rowlett, in 1984. Nedra worked as a dining room, banquet and catering manager at many of the larger hotels in Dallas. She was a member of the American Business Women Association, Rowlett Book Review Club and the Rowlett Rockers. An avid political supporter, she volunteered for many campaigns, and always willing to help neighbors and friends get to doctors appointments and to the hospital for treatments. She will be missed by many. She belonged to the United Methodist Church and Adult Bible Class of Dallas.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Linda (Al) Sender, Dean (Candy) Howman, Patricia (Bob) McClellan, Cathy (Rich) Schlesselman, Gary (Cathy) Howman, Lochelle (David) Mansell and Connie (Robert) Losee; several great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Glorine Howman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; parents; brothers, Lyndon Jr., Ralph and Robert; and sister Helen Arnholt.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 334 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Elmer Novak will officiate. Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
