John Joseph Rospert, 86, of Bellevue, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born Oct. 21, 1920, to Theodore and Amelia (Frisch) Rospert, now deceased, in Attica, Ohio. He married Mary (McConnell) Rospert May 20, 1944, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue. In 1980, John retired from Spencer Kellog where he was employed as a supervisor. John served in WWII in the 95th Div. 377 Infantry; worked for the Seneca County Farm Bureau; was a guard for Continental Secret Service at Clyde, Whirlpool; and spent many hours helping Louis Walters on the farm. He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue. His life was anchored by his devotion to faith and family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary; a son, Eugene (Laurie) Rospert of Republic, Ohio; a daughter, Lisa (John) Ball of Bellevue; four grandchildren, Nathan Joseph, Alivia and Katherine Ball, all of Bellevue; three brothers, Joseph (Ruth) of Tiffin, Bernard (Ina) of Bellevue and Thomas (Elaine) of Wadsworth, Ohio; three sisters, Rita Bender of Bellevue, Margaret Loose of Bellevue and Mary (Earl) Wetzel of Sandusky; 53 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents, and a grandson, Curtis Rospert, who passed away Sept. 13, 2006.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Bellevue. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church with the Very Rev. Keith Stripe officiating. Internment will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
