David Vance Fernandez, 40, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, in his home.
He was born Feb. 22, 1967, to Marjorie Ekey Fernandez and Desmon Fernandez. David was preceded in death by his mother, the former Director of Volunteers at Providence Hospital. He is survived by his father who is retired from teaching and administration in the Sandusky school system.
David was a graduate of Sandusky High School where he enjoyed participating in the Acappella Choir and swim team. He received a bachelor's degree in recreation from Bowling Green State University. After graduating, he pursued his love for swimming, boating and skiing.
In addition to his father, Desmon "Dez", he is survived by his aunt, Marian (Donald) Hamm and his uncle, Paul (Paulette) Ekey Sr.; as well as eight first cousins from the Toledo area and many close and caring friends, especially Margaret McCartney.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Wednesday until funeral services at 8:30 p.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Ernest G. Matijasic will preside. Burial services will be private at Oakland Cemetery on Thursday.
