John L. Reising, 78, of Vermilion, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in Community Health Partners, Lorain, after a brief illness.
He was born July 17, 1929, in Vermilion where he was a lifelong resident. He worked 30 years as a truck driver for Chapin Truck Lines, Elyria, and retired in 1987. He was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion, and Teamsters Union 571. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating and volunteering at the Food Pantry.
Survivors include his sons, Jon (Karen) Reising and Rudy (Joli) Reising, both of Vermilion; four grandchildren; brothers, David Reising of Lorain, Marlin Reising of Haines City, Fla., and Theodore Reising of Norwalk; sisters, Kathleen Miller of Jenson Beach, Fla., and Juanita Gundlach of Norwalk; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Patricia Reising, in May 2007; parents, Albert and Daisy (Kennedy) Reising; brother, Sylvester Reising; sisters, LaVern Brown, Clarice Wallace and Elvira Baker; and a grandson, Sean Alan Reising.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brownhlem Cemetery, Vermilion, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State St., Vermilion, with the Rev. Wendell Brooker officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St. Vermilion.
