Esther R. (Weyer) Bauer, 92, of Sandusky, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, in Erie County Care Facility, in the care of Stein Hospice Service.
She was born Nov. 6, 1914, in Margaretta Twp., and was a 1932 graduate of Margaretta High School. She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and her family meant everything to her, especially time spent vacationing together. She loved tending her flower and vegetable gardens. Her special hobby was needlework.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Harold Bauer, whom she married June 18, 1936; two daughters, Rose Marie (Thomas) Gilb of Tempe, Ariz., and Mary Lou (George) Vasilev of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sons, John E. (Mary) Bauer of Sandusky and Robert H. (Mary Ann) Bauer of Willard; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank N. and Rosa (Ringel) Weyer; four sisters, Verena Riedy, Hilda Schoewe, Bernice Rader and Lauretta Giefreto; and two brothers, Frank E. Weyer and Cletis Weyer.
Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, with Father Doug Garand officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
