Arthur F. Weeks, 88, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2007, in Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.

He was born May 1, 1919, in Plymouth, England. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1929. He attended General Motors Institute and worked for General Motors until retiring in 1981. During World War II, he left work and enlisted in the 8th Air Force where he became a B-17 bomber pilot. He also was a flight instructor and taught young recruits to fly various planes. After the war, he went back to Chevy Parma and attended night classes at Baldwin Wallace College. Arthur enjoyed boating and kept his boat at the Cedar Point Marina. While in Sandusky, he met and married Nancy (Williams) Roehrs. This past April, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. He attended Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky, belonged to the Sandusky Yacht Club, Past Commander of the Sandusky Power Squadron, Member of the Sandusky Elks Club, American Legion, past member of the Catawba Island Club and the I.A.B. Club. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

A highlight of his youth was meeting Edgar A. Guest. Arthur was an Eagle Scout and assisted as a Junior Scout Master. Mr. Guest was invited to speak at a meeting and after the meeting he presented Art with a hand-written poem as a gift for helping. Arthur was also an avid swimmer and instructed swimming while living in Flint, Mich. Arthur and his wife, Nancy, enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed ballroom dancing. They spent several years taking dance lessons together and enjoying the dance floor with friends.

Along with his wife, Nancy (Williams) Weeks, Arthur is survived by Nancy's daughter, Deborah (Mrs. Roger) Gundlach and her two children, Andrew and Katherine, whom Arthur loved as grandchildren; and his brother's niece, Rene Fauth of Flint.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick J. and Alice (Coyne) Weeks; and a brother, Ted Weeks.

At his request cremation has been held. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky and from 10 a.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky until services at 11 a.m. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
