Evelyn Steen, 82, of Sandusky, died late Wednesday evening, Sept. 5, 2007, in Providence Care Center, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Randolph County, Ala. She was employed as an assembler at the former Philco Manufacturing Co. She was a member of St. Stephen AME Church, where she served as a missionary.
Evelyn is survived by two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her brothers, James and Johnnie Turner of Anderson, Ind., and Aaron (Lucy) Turner of Alabama; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Steen; son, Michael Steen; parents, Mitchell and Laura (Childers) Turner; and her sister, Lillie Turner.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday. Pastors Paul Bupe, Johnnie McClough and Cornelius David Wade will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
