Robert Carl Walton Sr., 86, of Sandusky, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, in the Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born in Sandusky on July 26, 1921, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was employed by the Ford Motor Company for 24 years, retiring in 1984. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2529, Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary (Riedy) Walton, to whom he married Aug. 7, 1954; daughters, Diane (Michael) Jesberger and Mary Kay Lippus, both of Sandusky; sons, Richard (Carol) Matter of Castalia and Robert Carl Walton Jr. of Sandusky; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Audrey) Walton and Clyde (Donna) Walton, both of Sandusky, and Jack (Sandra) Walton, Castalia, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gertrude (Heim) Walton; and brothers, Al and Kenneth Walton.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service was Saturday in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Clyde Mayberry officiated. Burial was in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, with the American Legion Post 83 conducting military honors.
