Shirley Ann Jackson, 51, Sandusky, departed from this life on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, in Community Health Partners, Lorain, unexpectedly.
She was born Aug. 31, 1955, in Montgomery, Ala., was a 1973 graduate of Perkins High School and attended Davis Business College, Toledo. She was a employed by the Ohio Bureau of Unemployment for more than 30 years. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she was clerk-secretary. She held the office of secretary for the Sandusky branch of the NAACP and helped with numerous other organizations, giving her time, touching peoples lives, and leaving lasting impressions on everyone she met.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Kelcey Lamont Jackson of Sandusky; parents, Charlie James and Mattie Jackson Sr. of Sandusky; grandchildren, Alissa K. Mauter, Tavon K. Jackson, Kelcey S. Jackson and Avontae L. Jackson; brothers and sisters, Lena Mae (Johnnie) Patrick of Montgomery, Ala., Betty Jean (Harvey) Nicholson, Andrew Frazier, Richard Earl Jackson, Paul Allen Jackson and Pearl Jackson, all of Sandusky, Charles James (Sheryl) Jackson Jr. in Navcomtelsta, Bhrian, Donnell (Diane) Jackson of Valdosta, Ga., Pauline Jackson of Port Hueneme, Calif., and Elizabeth Jackson of Columbus; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Johnnie and Dynah Jackson and Andrew and Nancy Ellen Frazier; aunts and uncles, Mary (Charlie) Pettiford, Estella (Ulysses) Hill, Willie Frank Jackson, Johnnie Jackson, Bernice Jackson and Louise (the Rev. Joseph) Duncan.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. The Rev. Samuel Mickles and the Rev. Christopher Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
