JENSEN BEACH, FLA.
"Sweet Jody Brown" passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, in her home in Jensen Beach, Fla., with daughter, Bobbie at her side.
Born Dec. 12, 1929, to Robert and Mary Giltnane, Jody briefly attended St. Mary's High School in Sandusky before graduating from Stivers High School in Dayton in 1947.
Jody married Jack Brown in 1949, and he preceded her in death. Her sister, Norma Westerhold, and her brother, Bobby Giltnane, also preceded her in death.
A mom to many, Jody was best mom to Sally, Bobbie, Carol, Sue, John and Michael, whom she nurtured and loved in all the places Jack's business career took them, including Grosse Point, Mich., and Kokomo, Ind.
She always returned to Dayton though, which was her hometown and her favorite place.
Jody built homes on Lake Erie and the Florida coast and always had an open door to welcome the endless stream of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends eager to spend their vacations with her.
She also is survived by five grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Kyle, Kacy and John; a great-grandson, Griffyn; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Sandusky area.
Friends and family are asked to celebrate her life often but especially from 2-7 p.m. Sept. 9, in the Cuvee Wine Bar & Cellar, 4457 Ohio 725, Bellbrook, Ohio, where there will be an Irish wake in her honor.
