Oscar Rodgers Jr., 76, of Gardner Road, Bellevue, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, in his home.
He was born March 14, 1931, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of the now deceased Oscar and Ella (Perry) Rodgers Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 46. He retried from Ford Motor in Sandusky in 1993 after 30 years of service. Oscar was a giving man, always willing to help others and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Lou Mullens, whom he married Oct. 14, 1955, in Port Clinton; children, Joy (Robert) Sterling of Risingsun, Ohio, David Rodgers of Kent, Wash., Sherry Kernich of Fairborn, Ohio, Dennis (Joni) Rodgers of Oak Harbor, Tammy (Mike) Gribler of Marysville, Wash., Faith (Tom) Dixon of Springfield, Ohio, and Daniel (Kathy) Rodgers of Sandusky; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Edward and a sister, Geneva, preceded him in death.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday in Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St, Bellevue, where services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Brad Hall from the Chapel On The Lake, Marblehead, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Mausoleum.
