Lois M. Rode, 90, of Bowling Green, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, in Wood County Hospital.
She was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Scotch Ridge, Ohio, to Alec and Fannie (Brocksopp) Canfield. She married Joe R. Rode on March 30, 1940, in East Liverpool, Ohio and he survives. Mrs. Rode graduated from Bowling Green Normal College in 1938. She taught mathematics in the Pemberville school district for several years. She then became co-owner, with her husband, of V.A. Fries Lumber Company in Huron and Norwalk Home Interiors, Norwalk. She was a member of Presbyterian churches in Sandusky, Norwalk, Pemberville and Scotch Ridge, where she was baptized. She was active in the women's organizations at each church.
She is also survived by her daughter, Joan (James) Ziss of Sandusky; son, Fred (Linda) Rode of Marion, Ohio; sister, Jean Jimison of Elmore, Ohio; five grandchildren, Rebecca Lentz, Andrew and Erich Ziss, and Jill Martin and Robin Ray; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Lahman and Iva Strange.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home, 408 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, where a celebration of life service will be 11 a.m Friday. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial is in Webster Township Cemetery, Scotch Ridge.
