Ronald B. "Hutch" Hutchings, 74, of Huron, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, in the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born March 24, 1933, in Cleveland. He was involved with fire service for 37 years, with Parma Heights, Ohio, holding the rank of chief for the last 13 years, retiring in 1992. Ron spent two years as president of the Northeast Ohio Fire Chief Association, and a year as the president of the Ohio Fire Chief Association. He was secretary- treasurer of the IAFC Great Lakes Division, where he was named secretary treasurer emeritus, and was involved with numerous fire services duties and had several other accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Jablonski) Hutchings; and son, Richard Hutchings of Pompano Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Gertrude (Schroeder) Hutchings.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sept. 7, 2007, in Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky. The Rev. Ernest Matijasic will officiate.
