Barbara June (Young) Eibon, 71, of Amherst, passed away peacefully and suddenly Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, after a lengthy struggle with her heart.
She was born June 13, 1936, in Galena, Kan., where she was raised, as well as in Berlin Heights. Barbara graduated from Berlin Heights High School with the class of 1955. She has been a resident of Amherst for more than 51 years. Barbara was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst where she was active in the choir, the Sunday School department, assisting with the support of her church family, and also served as a Day Care Teacher. She was a member of the Amherst Homemaker Association and the Senior Citizens of Amherst. In addition to being a homemaker, she served as a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, John Kenneth Eibon; her sons, John Berry Eibon of Amherst and William "Bill" Eldin Eibon of Carlisle Township; her daughter, Barbara Lynn Zauner of North Ridgeville; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Arlene Kay Eibon in 1959; and by her parents, William E. and Juanita (Bryant) Young .
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Terrance Adamson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
