Jim Roth, 56, of Marblehead, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 1007, in his home.
He was born May 16, 1951, in Sandusky, the son of the now deceased Roger and Geraldine (Manner) Roth. Jim was a Merchant Marine with the Oglebay Norton Company, retiring after 30 years of service. He was the former vice president of Steelworkers Local 5000, a member of the VFW Men's Auxiliary of Post 7572 of Marblehead and the Elk's Lodge 1718 of Port Clinton. He was an active member of the St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church and active with the Danbury Food Pantry.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine (Batcha), whom he married June 26, 1971; son, Jamie (Kate) Roth of Fort Wayne, Ind.; daughters, Jeanne (Robert) Snowball of Columbus and Jessica (Robert) Landon of Springfield, Va., and Julianne (Jason) Lee of Marblehead; grandchildren, Jacob, Nevaeh and Harrison; brother, John (Beth) Roth of Maumee; and Nancy (Jim) Shelley of Bellevue.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today in Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Marblehead, where Parastas services will be at 6 p.m. followed by the VFW Men's services. Additional visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Marblehead. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
