Janet M. Smith, 75, of 808 W. Monroe St., Sandusky, died late Friday evening, Aug. 17, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Sandusky and was a 1949 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 83 Auxiliary. Janet loved to boat and fish and was an avid golfer.
She is survived by four sons, Michael (Debra) Smith, Donald (Cathy) Smith, Jeffrey Smith and James Smith, all of Sandusky; three daughters, Jean Anne (Michael) Corbin of Sandusky and Marsha Koch and Sandra McNutt, both of Bradenton, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Lang of Sandusky; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene N. Smith in 1991; her parents, Elmer and Eulalia (Uhl) Wentz; one grandson, Michael Corbin in 1991; and one brother, Edwin Wentz in 1971.
Her family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Friday until a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Philip Feltman will officiate. Inurnment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
