Barbara L. Steer, 86, of Sandusky, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2006, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Rome, N.Y. Barbara was a 1938 graduate of Sandusky High School, received her bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster, and she earned her master's degree from Bowling Green State University.
She was employed by the Sandusky City Schools for 35 years, working at Barker and Monroe Schools.
Barbara also helped the schools start all their libraries. The first was at Osborne School in 1966. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky.
She is survived by numerous great nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lena (Barber) Steer; one sister, Margaret Neiding; and one brother, Kenneth Steer.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Episcopal Church Chapel, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky. The Rev. Ernest G. Matijasic will officiate. Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
