Ruth M. Hemmer, 83, of Sandusky, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Groton Twp. Ruth graduated from Sandusky High School and was employed as an office worker by Western-Southern Insurance Co. and by Joseph Buder, DO. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran, Sandusky and she enjoyed playing pinochle, reading and fishing.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Richard Hemmer of Sandusky, whom she married Oct. 27, 1945; daughters, Martha J. (David) Custis of Newburgh, Ind., and Sherry A. (Kenneth) Beucler, Curtice, Ohio; son, Dennis L. (Pamela) Hemmer of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Poths of Sandusky; brothers, Milton Poths of Sandusky and Mervin Poths of Woodburn, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Esther (Balduff) Poths; sisters, Irma Poths and Barbara Lilje; and brother, John Poths.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky. The Rev. Gary Ulrich will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
