Hazel Abbie (Brown) Walker, 98, of Johnstown, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, in Columbus.
Hazel was born in Johnstown, June 9, 1909, to Walter and Bessie (Tathman) Brown, now deceased. Hazel attended Denison University and Ohio University.
Upon completion of her education Hazel became a school teacher in the Johnstown Elementary Schools and a substitute teacher in Dover, Ohio. She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge 242 of Johnstown and was an honorary life member of the U.S. Air Force Air Defense Command.
Hazel is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Jerman of Columbus and Carolyn Bracy of Sandusky, two grandchildren, Deborah Menz of Middleton, Wis., and Kevin Bracy of Cleveland and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Otto Walker, preceded her in death in July 1984 after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 1984.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Hazel to: Ohio Health Foundation, 3724 Olentangy River Road, Suite G, Columbus, OH 43214-9988.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Friday until services at 11 a.m. in Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown. Pastor Gregory Lenhart will officiate and internment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown.
