Antoinette "Ann" Constantine Gennari, 88, of Sandusky, died Sunday evening, Aug. 12, 2007, in Providence Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Belleville, N.J., and attended Eastern Schools. She moved to Sandusky in 1938, and later retired after 29 years of employment with Morgan Linen Service. Ann was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Sandusky, and also volunteered for more than 10 years at Firelands Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Mary Frances (Raul) Hoffman of Bradenton, Fla., and Joseph M. (Kathy) Gennari of Sandusky; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anita Tierney of New Jersey and Emily Albanese of Pennsylvania; brothers, Joseph Constantine and Anthony Constantino, both of New Jersey and Dr. F. Vincent Constantine of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Gennari, whom she married Nov. 6, 1938, and who died Feb. 20, 2001; her parents, Oreste Micheal and Maria Francesca (Pomponio) Constantino; brothers, Amilcare Costantino and two in childhood; sisters, Marietta Signorin, Terry Pilchman and Phyllis Mirabella; and a granddaughter in infancy.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Marty Nassr officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
