Elizabeth "Betty" J. (Meredith) Hutchinson, 65, of Sandusky, died Friday morning, Aug. 10, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, with her family by her side, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 27, 1941, in Washington Court House, Ohio, and graduated from Bloomingburg High School in 1959. She was employed as a sales associate for Dollar General and a waitress for the Clarion Inn. Betty was a member of the Venice Road Baptist Church, Sandusky, and enjoyed bowling, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela (Steven) Wetzel, Christina (Scott) Smith Sr. and Cheryl (William) VanScoy, all of Sandusky; grandchildren, Dereck A. VanScoy, William R. VanScoy, Austin L. Smith and Kathleen R. Smith; step grandchildren, Jamie L. Smith and Scott A. Smith Jr.; brother, Donald R. (Judy) Meredith of Jamestown, Ohio; and special friends, Tabitha Deal and Jon Todd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Hutchinson on Dec. 12, 2002; parents, Donald and Myrta (Bowers) Meredith; and a sister in infancy, Martha Evelyn.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today in Venice Road Baptist Church, 3814 Venice Road, Sandusky, where services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. B.R. Hatfield officiating. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Washington Cemetery, Washington Court House.
