Leroy D. Maag, 95, of 3800 Boardwalk Blvd., Sandusky died Monday evening, Aug. 6, 2007, in the Parkvue Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 22, 1912, on Kelleys Island and was employed as the manager of several city loan offices in Ohio. Leroy retired as vice president of Banc Ohio in 1975. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Sandusky; Science Lodge 50; F. & A.M.; past master of Rockton Lodge of Kent, Ohio; Royal Arch Mason of Sandusky; 32 degree mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; Zenobia Shrine Club; Firelands Shrine Club, Toledo; Sandusky High Twelve Club; Singara Grotto; Senior Fellowship Club of Sandusky; Noble Travelers of Bonita Springs, Fla.; United Commercial Travelers; charter member and past president of four different Lions Clubs; past commander of Sandusky Power Squadron; past member of the Sandusky Chamber of Commerce; and past president of the Erie Regional Planning Commission.
He is survived by one daughter, Faith (Edward) Maag Dohanos of Wellington; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Maag of Catawba Island; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Sibbrel Maag on Jan. 26, 2003; one daughter, Marlene Blachly in 2005; his parents, William and Minnie (Schnittker) Maag; two sisters, Julia Hayes Kruse and Lillian Brink; and two brothers, Oliver and Howard Maag.
Memorial Masonic Services by Science Lodge No. 50 will be 2 p.m. Monday in Salem United Methodist Church, Wayne and Division streets, Sandusky, where a memorial service will follow with the Rev. Donald Brown officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church; or to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
