Julia I. Bittner, 94, of Sandusky, died Thursday morning, Aug. 2, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 12, 1913, in Sandusky and was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Sandusky and loved taking care of her family, gardening and baking.
Mrs. Bittner is survived by her sons, James Bittner and John (Mary) Bittner Jr. of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Linda (Bud) Wright, John Bittner III, Lori (Rocky) Lynch and Scott (Patty) Bittner, all of Sandusky; 7 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Viola Grahl of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Bittner in 1985; parents, Edward and Anna Holzinger; sisters, Gladys Scroggy and Helen Kotch; and brothers, Edward Holzinger Jr. and Elmer Holzinger.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. Monday until services at 11 a.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Elmer C. Novak will officiate. Private burial will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
