Joseph F. Ott, 88, of Sandusky, passed away late Tuesday evening, July 10, 2007, in Parkvue HealthCare Center, Sandusky.
He was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Sandusky and was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School. He had worked at Eastern States (Ag-Way) and later he retired from New Departure-Hyatt (Division of General Motors) in February 1984, where he had worked for more than 15 years. Mr. Ott was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, UAW Local 913 Retirees and Care & Share, which he helped start. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Murita L. (Westerhold) Ott; children, Kathleen M. (Francis) Durso of Merritt Island, Fla., David J. (Barb) Ott of Huron, Bonita L. Ott of Sandusky, Leonard A. (Susan) Ott of Berlin Heights, Laureen M. (Louis) Bartlebaugh of Sandusky, Jerilyn B. (John) Wassner of Sandusky, Julie M. (Robert) Hamilton of Huron, Ronan E. (Elizabeth) Ott of Sarasota, Fla., Marsianne L. (Edwin) Miranda of Pittsville, Md., Russell J. Ott of Marion, Ohio, and Malia S. Kautz of South Amherst, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond F. and Florence (Gundlach) Ott; and son-in-law, Howard "Bunk" Trautman.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father James Bacik will officiate. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
