Geraldine "Geri" Swartz, 94, of Bellevue passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007, in Bellevue Care Center.
She was born Sept. 13, 1912, in Bellevue and was the daughter of Robert and Emma Grace (Bailey) Farnsworth. She married Kenwood Swartz Jan. 9, 1932, and he preceded her in death Nov. 12, 1981.
She graduated from the former York High School in 1930 and spent her life in the Bellevue area. Along with her late husband, she owned and operated Swartz Grocery until 1951, and The Swartz Trailer Park until 1975. She was a teller at First National Bank, Bellevue, retiring in 1978. She was a volunteer at The Bellevue Hospital, and belonged to several other organizations.
She is survived by one son, Ralph (Joan) Swartz of Bellevue; two grandsons, Michael S. Swartz and Mark E. Swartz; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; five stepgrand-children; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Pearl Beard, Lola Guthrie, Eleanor Swartz, Roberta Mitchell and Mardel Farnsworth, in infancy; and granddaughter-in-law, Barbara A. Swartz.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Seybert United Methodist Church, 442 W. Main St., Bellevue, with the Rev. Bruce Kent officiating. Burial will be in York Free Chapel Cemetery.
