Janet L. Kaufman, 83, of Sandusky, died early Thursday morning, June 28, 2007, in Portland House, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born Dec.13, 1923, in Fremont, and had lived most of her life in Sandusky. Janet was a 1941 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and had been employed as an operator for Ohio Bell Telephone Company in the 1940s. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Privileged Ones of the Erie County Senior Center.
She is survived by three sons, the Rev. Monty L. (Suzie) Kaufman of Martin, Ohio, Fred L. (Cindy) Kaufman of Eta, Ohio, and Len H. (Mary) Kaufman of Sandusky; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Nathan, Steven, Frederick, Joseph, Mathew, Rebekah and Danielle; one great-granddaughter, Maria; two step great-granddaughters, Grace and Faith; one sister, Joan (Mel) Davis of Fremont; one brother, Tom (Dorothy) Dalton of Fremont; one brother-in-law, Jack Bilger of Tiffin; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent E. in 1989; her parents, Leo and Anna (Walkowiak) Dalton; and two sisters, Ruth (Russ) Grossnickle and Annie Bilger.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. today in Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave. Monday the body will be taken to Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, for viewing from 9:30 a.m. until services at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
