Burley Burkhart Sr., 73, owner, along with his wife Gloria, of Parkertown Restaurant in Bellevue, passed away June 28, 2007, in Cleveland.
He was born Dec. 27, 1933, in Harlan, Ky., the son of Andrew and Rebecca (Jackson) Burkhart, now deceased. Burley married Gloria (Rittenhouse) on March 28, 1953, in Newark, Ohio. He was employed as a supervisor with the Rogers Group until retirement in 1998, after more than 44 years. Burley was a lifetime member of the Four County Conservation Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles 490, Honorary Kentucky Colonel appointed by the governor and the Coon Hunter's Association. He was also an avid hunter, trap shooter and gun collector and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Burley is survived by his wife, Gloria M. (Rittenhouse) Burkhart of Bellevue; three sons, Burley Jr. of Mexico, Daniel (Anne) and David (Judy), both of Bellevue;10 grandchildren, Jackie Burkhart-Lapata of Bellevue; Ashlie (Greg) Gowitzka of Clyde, Matthew (Stephanie) Burkhart, Jessica, Stephanie and Douglas, all of Bellevue and David and Derek of Loudonville; two great-grandchildren, Shelby Lapata and Dylan Burkhart; brother, Andrew (Linda) Burkhart and two sisters, Dali King and Helen (June) Blanton, all of London, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rebecca Burkhart; brothers, Haward, Dennis, Berchel "Bert", Hershel, Elvin and Orville Burkhart.
Visitation will be noon-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Bellevue, where services will be 11 a.m. Monday, with good friend Benjamin Patrick officiating.
