Sarah "Jane" Knupke, 88, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, June 27, 2007, in her home.
She was born Nov.15, 1918, in Sandusky and was a 1946 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She loved playing football with the boys and enjoyed reading, painting and working in her yard.
She is survived by two sons, John A. Knupke and Donald (Beverly) Knupke, both of Sandusky; daughter, Laurie (Gale) Gilbert of Berlin Heights; and 10 grandchildren, Wendy, John, Kelly, Karri, Kristy, Alysha, Leann, Holly, Jerry and Greg; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna (Singer) Fairfield; husband, Luther A. Knupke in 1989; grandson, Dylan Sharkey in 1994; sister, Bernice "Babe" Kiser; four brothers, Clyde, Merle, Glen and Wayne Fairfield.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where services will be 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Doug Garand will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
