Robert "Bob" J. Schmidt, 52, of Sandusky, died Monday, June 25, 2007, as a result of a train accident.
He was born Nov. 30, 1954, in Sandusky. He was a 1972 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School. He worked as a roofer for Kenny Jesberger and Steve Petrick. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Sandusky Eagles, Orioles Club, Athletic Club, Kamans; and he was an avid sports fan.
Robert is survived by his mother, Mary Francis (Dye) Martin of Sandusky; brother, Ralph J. (Barb) Schmidt Jr. of Sandusky; nephews, Steve, James, Jason, Josh, Jude and Jeff Schmidt; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph J. Schmidt Sr.; his stepfather, Clarence Martin; and his brother, Daniel C. Schmidt.
Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayer services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Philip Feltman will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
