Mariano "Del" Delpercio, 74, of Catawba Island, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Hackensack, N.J., the son of Michael and Palma (Costanzo) Delpercio, now deceased. On Nov. 16, 1952, he married Jeanne (Esposito) and she survives. Mr. Delpercio worked as a mechanical engineer at New Departure Hyatt, in Clark, N.J., until 1966 when he was transferred to New Departure Hyatt in Sandusky, where he retired in 1987 after 36 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, where he was a lector, Eucharistic minister, bingo caller and former president of the school board; the Catawba Island Club where he was an avid golfer; and the Port Clinton Elks Lodge 1718 where he was very active in helping out during the annual Elks stagaroo. His hobbies included golf, playing pinochle, bowling, walking in the annual American Heart Association fundraising walk and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; sons, Gary Delpercio of Sandusky and Thomas Delpercio of Willoughby, Ohio; daughters, Lori and Nancy Delpercio, both of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Anthony (Scotia) Delpercio, Carlie Delpercio and Alison Delpercio; great-grandchildren, Abbi Delpercio and Kamron Delpercio; brother, Michael (Barbara) Delpercio of Fredricksburg, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton, where prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. The Rev. John C. Missler will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Island Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, The Diabetes Foundation, or to the donor's charity of choice.
