Attorney Donald R. Ford Jr., 51, of 9501 Bradford Lane NE, Warren, Ohio, entered into rest Wednesday, June 13, 2007, in his home after a sudden illness.
He was born May 25, 1956, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to son of Attorney Donald R. Sr. and Janet L. (Lofgren) Ford. He was a lifetime Warren and Howland area resident. Donald was an attorney for 24 years in partnership with his father, Judge Donald R. Ford Sr., at the law firm of Ford & Ford in Warren. He enjoyed a broad-based practice of law with specialties in worker's compensation and Social Security claims. He was a 1974 graduate of Howland High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Hiram College in 1978, his juris doctor degree from Ohio Northern University, and later his master's of business administration from Youngstown University. He was a member of the Ohio State and Trumbull Bar Associations. He was also licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania. He was an Assistant Ohio Attorney General from 1983-89. He served as the attorney for the Trumbull County Engineers Office for more than 12 years and as local counsel for Mahoning Valley Scrappers. He was elected 32nd District State Central Committee man for the Democratic Party for the State from 1996 to present. He was also a member of the Warren Sports Hall of Fame and served as its attorney. Donald attended Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren and was a coach with the Little League baseball and soccer teams in Howland. He was also a board member on the Howland Twp. Park Board. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Treasured memories will be carried on by his wife, Sharon (Manner) Ford, whom he married May 18, 1991. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and family member. He is survived by his parents, Judge Donald R. Sr. and Janet L. Ford of Warren; two sons, Bryan D. and David R. Ford, both at home; daughter, Jaclyn M. Ford, also at home; brother, John A. (Amy) Ford of Aurora, Ohio; two sisters, Leslie J. (Dr. Gregg) Ford Crane of Ann Arbor and Ann H. (Dan) Ford Shepherd of Purcellville, Va.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren. Friends may also greet the family from 9 a.m. Monday until A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Warren. The Rev. Donald E. King will officiate. Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Ohio.
