Dale K. "Pat" Elder, 65, of Monroeville, passed away at his home Monday, June 11, 2007.
Mr. Elder was born March 17, 1942, in Detroit, to former Fireside residents, Dale Kermit Sr. and Frances Selina (Smith) Elder, now deceased. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1960 and attended Heidelberg College. He retired as superintendent of NS Railroad Terminal in Bellevue in March 2000 after more than 20 years of working in various railroad towns.
Pat was a member of the Lyme Congregational United Church of Christ; Lyme Historical Village; Bellevue RR Museum; Bellevue Masonic Temple; Bellevue Development Group; Bellevue Hospital Development Council; and had been president of the Local United Transportation Union, and also served in other positions in this Union.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Close) Elder, whom he married July 20, 1963; two sons, Dale (Kelly) Kermit Elder III of Pittsburgh and Erick Michael (Leigh Anne) Elder of Little Rock, Ark.; four granddaughters, Mary Montana and Mary Grace Elder and Taylor and Faith Elder; three brothers, Robert D. Elder of Bellevue, James F. (Ruthann) Elder of San Jose, Calif., and Michael C. (Janice) Elder of Saratoga, Calif.; and two sisters, Barbara (Carl) Thompson of Corona, Calif., and Kay (Daryl) Koroluck of Riverside, Calif.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lyme Congregational United Church of Christ with the Revs. Gene Hegemier and Cliff Munger officiating, assisted by Mr. Elder's brother, Pastor Michael Elder. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
