Robert A. Scally, 60, of Huron, passed away late Friday evening, June 8, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 20, 1947, in Sandusky, and was a 1965 graduate of Sandusky High School. He retired from Delphi Corporation in 2006 after 22 years of service as an electrician, and was previously employed with Fresch Electric for 20 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard, serving from 1966-72.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a life member of AMVETS Post 17, a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 83, Orioles Club, Huron Eagles, IBEW Local 129, UAW Local 913 and the former IAB Club. He enjoyed golfing with the UAW and Elks Leagues. In addition to golfing, Robert enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends at his home in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Robert is survived by his wife, Norma (Hoelzer) Scally, whom he married April 18, 1970; two sons, Bruce (Maureen) Scally of Westerville, Ohio, and Tony (Katie) Scally of Milford, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Isabella, Mya, Hannah, Vince, Jack and Nicholas; his father, James A. Scally Sr. of Sandusky; three brothers, Jim (Roberta) Scalia of Huron, Gary (Cheryl) Scally of Englewood, Colo., and Steve Scally of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez (Riccardi) Scally in 1992.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayer services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Marty Nassr officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
