James B. Ballantine, 86, of Sandusky, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus.
Mr. Ballantine was born, March 11, 1921, in Leetonia, Ohio. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force having served during World War II and received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky, VFW Post 2529, American Legion Post 83, and a life member of AMVETS Post 17.
Mr. Ballantine is survived by daughters, Mary Ann "Mazie" (Robin) Smith, Polly (Timothy) Steffen both of Chardon, Ohio, Betsy (Chris) Goodrum of Concord, Ohio; son, James B. (Teri) Ballantine II of Reno, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B. Frank and Lillian (Woods) Ballantine; and brothers, George W., Jack F., William T. and Robert W. Ballantine.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. Friday until servies at 4 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Ernest Matijasic will officiate.
