NORTH FORT MYERS, FLA.
On Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, Verda J. Young, beloved wife of Hubert C. Young, and loved mother of Stanley "Butch" Meyers and Michael D. Meyers, passed away, to be with her Lord and Savior that beautiful and wonderful day.
She was 80 years young, born May 27, 1926.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; her first son, Gary; and her parents, Floyd and Bessie Jones of Manchester, Ky.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Hubert Young. Mr. Young met the then-Miss Jones on a second blind date in 1964 as he stood her up on their first date for work-related reasons. To this day he is eternally grateful she gave him that second chance. Mrs. Young is also survived by her two sons; one sister, Vada White of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many, many friends who truly loved this incredible woman.
An industrious person, she not only worked all her adult life at General Motors' New Departure plant in Sandusky, but raised two children and helped with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved life deeply, taking time to enjoy her family and friends.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Meadow Green Memorial Park. The Rev. Amy Little and the Rev. Fred Wiechers will both be officiating.
Arrangements entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral Home, Sandusky.
