Gary P. Liebenthal 72, Sandusky, died Friday, May 25, 2007, in the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born May 17, 1935, in Sandusky. Gary graduated from Sandusky High School in 1953, and attended Bowling Green State University. He was employed by the Sandusky Register for more than 30 years. He served 28 years in the Ohio National Guard and Army Reserve, and retired from the Corps of Engineers with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He attended The Chapel. He was past master of Science Lodge 50 F & A.M., was a life member of the AMVETS Post 17, a member of the American Legion Post 83, Huron Eagles, Sandusky Browns Backers, and Mills Creek Friday Senior Golf League.
He is survived by his wife, Sally (Henretty) Liebenthal, to whom he was married 49 years Aug. 2, 1957; daughter, Amy Liebenthal of Sandusky; sons, John (Margot [Waldock]) Liebenthal and Mark Liebenthal, both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Erik, Ian, Gary, Nicole, and Caitlyn; and a brother, Dale Liebenthal of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Laura (Krewson) Liebenthal.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. Tuesday until a memorial services at 5 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Ernest Matijasic will officiate.
