Robert D. Price, 84, of Collins, died Saturday evening, May 19, 2007, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.

He was born Aug. 9, 1922, in North Fairfield and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific on supply ships. He was a machinist for many years. He taught at Hartland Elementary, South Central and EHOVE as a machine trades teacher. He retired in 1987 from Zupan Machine Company in Wellington. He also enjoyed reading, was an amateur story teller and loved gardening.

He was a member of North Fairfield American Legion Post 706, and a lifetime member of Norwalk VFW Post 2743. He was a member of West Hartland United Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist as a lay speaker and instructor. Mr. Price was involved many years with the Huron County Farm Council 2A, a member and officer of The Gideon's International, Huron County Retired and State Retired Teachers Association, Huron County Victim Assistance Program and Lorain County Bee Keepers Association. In his later years he became an active volunteer with Stein Hospice and was an ombudsman with the Ohio Area on Aging.

He is survived by his children, Patricia C. Price of Chelsea, Mich., Donna J. (Dan) Harper of Collins and Robert D. Price II of Norwalk; two grandsons, Aaron and Brian Harper; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ellen (Mills) Price in 2003; parents, Eugene and Mary (Carman) Price; and a sister, Betty J. Price.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at West Hartland United Methodist Church, 1401 Zenobia Road, Norwalk. The Rev. Carl H. Fannin will officiate. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.
