Laura Kaye "Laurie" Schlessman, 45, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 17, 2007, in Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 2, 1962, in Sandusky and was a lifelong resident of the Huron area. She graduated from Huron High School in 1980 and worked as a volunteer for the VFW of Lorain. She attended The Chapel, of Sandusky.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mary (Canterbury) and Leonard Kettel of Huron; two sisters, Patti (Dan) Coleman of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Sheri (Rob) Fisher of Sandusky; brothers, Steve (Kristi) Schlessman of Huron, Michael (Jessica) Kettel of Pittsburgh, Pa., Patrick Kettel of Alaska in the Air Force, and Matthew Kettel in the Marines stationed in Iraq; a companion and friend, Jeff Westendorf of Troy, Ohio; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Denver Schlessman; maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; two aunts; an uncle; and two cousins.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesda in The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky, with the Rev. Dave Brown officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
