Leon B. "Junior" Zieber, 81, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in Bellevue Care Center.
Mr. Zieber was born Sept. 16, 1925, in York Twp., Sandusky County, to Leon B. and Minnie (Dick) Zieber Sr., now deceased.
He spent his life in the area, graduating from York High School in 1943, he was a farmer all of his life and drove school bus for Bellevue and York Schools for 25 years, substituting for an additional seven years.
Leon was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Bellevue, past president of the Generous Givers at the church, former Master of the York Grange, member of the Ohio State Grange and the National Grange, a delegate to the State Grange Convention, a member of the Sandusky Co. Farm Bureau, past president of the Town & County Farm Council, member of the 4 County Young at Heart, and had been involved for more than 40 years in Western square dancing.
He is survived by two daughters, LaVohn (David) Hunter and Lisa (Tom) Yingling and two sons, Galen (Tammy) Zieber and Lee (Cindy) Zieber, all of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; his special friend, Ann Shetzer of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth I. (Warner) Zieber, whom he married Feb. 19, 1946, and she preceded him Feb. 26, 1994; two brothers, Olen Zieber and William Zieber; and one sister, Thelma Nearhood.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today in Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Bellevue, with The Rev. Dr. Robert Bottoms officiating. Burial will be in York Free Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Choir Robe Fund at the church.
