Joseph T. Serraino , 73, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Mr. Serraino was born Nov. 9, 1933, in Bellevue, to Rocco and Carmella "Nellie" (Baptista) Serraino, now deceased. He graduated of Bellevue High School in 1951. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Bellevue VFW and American Legion; Knights of Columbus; Catholic War Veterans; and Club Amerital, Bellevue. He was a former state office holder for the Disabled American Veterans and was DAV representative to Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
During the Korean War, Joe served with the U.S. Navy. For 33 years he worked at Whirlpool Corp., Clyde, retiring from a supervisor position.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (Coons) Serraino, whom he married Feb. 20, 1954; a daughter, Lndamarie Serraino of Defiance, Ohio; two sons: Stephen R. Serraino of Perrysburg, Ohio, and J. Ted Serraino of Bellevue; a granddaughter, Kailey; a grandson, Tayler Serraino; four sisters, MaryAnn Guemelata and Frances Laviola, both of Bellevue, Josephine (Mark) Helm of Sandusky and Rose (Ed) Stevens of Las Vegas.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Keith Stripe officiating.
Memorials may be given to Disabled American Veterans; Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky; or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
