Marilyn L. Vassar, 76, of Castalia, died Monday morning, May 14, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Sandusky and was a 1948 graduate of Margaretta High School. She was employed by Castalia Banking Co. for several years and was a secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Marilyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; the Women of the Church; the Homemaker's Club; taught Sunday school for 30 years; and served as church secretary.
She is survived by her husband, Berkeley, to whom she was married 56 years; a daughter, Ann (Tal) Strean of Castalia; three sons, David (Carla) Vassar of Toledo, James Vassar of Tiffin, Ohio, and Mark (Robyn) Vassar of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren, Erika, Adam, Ashly, Erin, Michael, Emilee, Lauren, Harrison, and twins, Tenley and Preston; a sister, Judy (Bill) Limberios of Castalia; two brothers, Delbert (Pat) Wobser of Sandusky and Jerry (Barb) Wobser of Bay View; and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther (Meyers) Wobser; a sister, Audrey Jenkins Taylor; and two infant brothers.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from 9:30 a.m. Friday until services at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Road, Sandusky. The Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
