Nellie B. (Himes) Ketchmark Hunnell, 88, of Huron, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, surrounded by her family at her daughter Lillian Shepherd's home in Amherst after a brief illness.
She was born April 30, 1919, in New Bethlehem, Pa., and lived in the Huron area since from 1977, moving from Lorain. She lived in devotion to her family and their care as a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain. She worked as a cook for Kmart in Lorain for 10 years, retiring in 1981. She had also worked for Trio Products and Jupiter Discount Store, both in Lorain.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Fimmen of Elyria and Lillian Shepherd of Amherst; stepdaughters, Judy Bilby of Wakeman and Margaret Rhoads, Sheila Hitshew and Sandy Slater, all of Vermilion; stepson, Eddie Hunnell of Vermilion; four grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded-in-death by her first husband, Alex Ketchmark in 1969; second husband, James Hunnell in 1999; son, Alex Ketchmark Jr. in 2006; and parents, Jessie and Elizabeth (Jewert) Himes; and brother, Thomas Himes.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Bogart Road, Huron, officiated by the Rev. Guy Morton, pastor emeritus of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion.
