Our Dear Mother, Lillie M. (Butcher) Yates, 96, of Sandusky, was called home to Heaven Tuesday afternoon, May 8, 2007, after a brief illness. She had been residing in Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Dec. 30, 1910, in Barryton, Mich. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith.
Mrs. Yates is survived by one daughter, Susette C. Presley of Sandusky; one son, Hershel H. Powell of Ithaca, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Addison Butcher of Merrill, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William A. Yates in 1984; her loving parents, Clarence G. and Maude (Isanhart) Butcher; two brothers, Lloyd and Charles Butcher; one sister, Adabelle Anthony; and two daughters, Phyllis Harnick and Geneva M. Johnson.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. Friday until services at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Oakland Cemetery, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky, where burial will follow. Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, is in charge of arrangements.
